Colorado Nurses' Day at the Capitol

Join your fellow nurses in a recognition of Nurses' Day 2016!

Pain Management nurses have a great opportunity to be recognized and heard in the legislative forums of our state. Our patients and communities need knowledgable and compassionate advocates as society grapples with the many challenges in pain care. Come meet, learn, and advocate together!

Schedule of the day:

7 :30 am: Capitol opens
7 :30– 8 am: Registration on 2nd Floor, Old Supreme Court Chambers
8 am – 9:45 am: Legislative Welcome in Old Supreme Court Chambers, 2nd Floor
* Introduction to the Day
* Overview of Capitol setting and activities
* Legislative Process
* Identification of participants' Representatives in both House and Senate
10 am – 10:30 am: General Assembly Recognition of Nurses Day at Capitol: Floor of House and Senate
10 am – 12 pm: General Assembly activities in the Capitol
* Observation and study of General Assembly activities in the Rotunda/Gallery
* Meetings with individual participants' elected representatives
12 pm – 1:30 pm: First Baptist Church, 1373 Grant St, Denver, CO 80203
* Debrief of morning activities
* 12 pm – Box Lunch provided if ordered
* Presentations – Legislators, Lobbyist, GAPP Chair, CNA Exec
* Discussion of their roles in the process for the organization
1:30 pm – 3:00 pm: Attendance at committee hearings
2 pm – 2:30 pm: Tour of the Capitol available with a dome visit (Optional)
3:00 – 3:30 pm: Debrief in Old Supreme Court Chambers, 2nd Floor
* Debrief
* Evaluation of Day
